International women’s day

Happy international women’s day all.

Something that all women will think about in their lives is the dreaded cervical test. As many would know the cervical test or pap smear is conducted every 5 years.

I went to have mine done. The second time I've had to have one. Unfortunately, my GP was unable to complete the test due to it causing pain to me. We agreed to hold off a month for my 30th birthday.

She explained that there is another way to test, a self-test that could only be conducted for women over the age of 30. Why? From what I was told, the medicare cost. Though this is beyond my understanding.

But for women younger than the age of 30, who need to take the test this way, it seems unfair to be placed in positions that can be painful or risk to their health. Though I only need to wait a month, I feel for younger women, that need to either manage through extreme discomfort or wait to reach the necessary age, all this could risk a woman's health.
